Laser Printers: These printers are also known as Page Printers, and range from small desktop units up to high speed departmental or MIS printers. Most are cut sheet printers, but continuous form types are available. Laser printers work by "drawing" a digital image on a drum or Optical Photo Conductor unit with either a laser or LED print array. This image is magnetic in nature and as the OPC passes by the developer, small particles of toner adhere to the charged areas. The paper is then charged at a higher rate and as the paper passes by the OPC the toner is transfered to the paper. The paper then goes into the fusing rollers and is set with heat and pressure. There have been many different variations to this method over the years. Some lasers use an all-in-one type of cartridge, while others use seperate consumables. New and reconditioned models are available.

Line Matrix: Used for high speed impact applications such as bar-codes, mailing labels, AIAG label applications, or for High Speed multi-part forms applications. Also known as Shuttle matrix printers. Similar to dot matrix technologies, line matrix printers form characters by impacting vertical rows of pins or hammers onto a ribbon. Instead of a printhead moving back and forth across the page there is a fixed number of pins on the printer spaced about 1/10th of an inch apart. The printer bank shuttles back and forth very rapidly and the characters are formed top to bottom a line at a time. These printers are rated in lines per minute and range from 300 lpm up to 1400 lpm. New and reconditioned models are available.

Dot Matrix: Used for light to medium duty desktop applications. Also known as Serial Matrix printers because the character are formed one at a time across the page. Dot matrix printers have a print head consisting of 9, 18, or 24 wires placed in a vertical row. The print head moves from side to side across the page and characters are formed by impacting the wires onto a ribbon. The paper moves between a platen and the ribbon and "dots" of ink form the characters one at a time. Printers are rated in characters per second for print speed and range from 80cps up to 1416cps models. New and reconditioned models are available.
